Service users
The loan service is reserved for students, faculty, staff of the University of Parma and staff of the Parma Hospital.
Mode of service delivery
To request borrowing of volumes placed in the reading room and in storage, you must contact staff at the library front office or proceed with your request through the OPAC.
To request borrowing from the OPAC, simply follow these steps:
- Connect to the OPAC
- Log in with your UniPr credentials or SPID
- Log in to your personal space
- Search for the book you are interested in
- Select a copy available of the book
- Click on Request for Loan
- Click on Confirm
If you request a book for loan from the OPAC, you have three working days, from when you receive the confirmation email, to pick it up.
You can borrow up to 3 volumes at the same time.
You can borrow for 15 days renewable by an additional 7 days if the volume has not been requested by other users.
You can prorogate the loan independently directly from the OPAC or with the BiblioParma APP.

How to get a loan extension
A loan is extendable:
- from the day you receive the expiration notice by e-mail (2 days before the expiration date);
- BEFORE the expiration date (after the expiration date it is no longer possible);
- ONLY IF the volume has not already been reserved by other users.
You can extend the loan independently using the online functions of the OPAC.
To request an extension, follow these steps:
- Connect to the OPAC
- Log in with your UniPr credentials or SPID
- Log in to your personal space and click on Loans
- Click on Extend Your Loan
- Your loan will be automatically renewed by 7 days
If the book has already been reserved you CANNOT extend your loan.
If the book is not reserved, but is more than two days away from the due date, you still cannot extend the loan, and the message Referable since
appears.
Loan suspension
A user who returns volumes late without making the extension will be suspended from lending for a number of days equal to the delay (with a tolerance of 3 days).
