The Human Sciences Libraries Unit acquires and makes available to institutional users ebooks related to its subject areas. Digital lending of ebooks normally has a duration of 7 days. The procedure, by which users download the book to their reading device (computer, tablet, ereader, etc.), requires prior authentication with University credentials.

8. Interlibrary loan and document delivery

The purpose of this service is to provide books and articles not available in Parma's libraries by requesting them from other libraries, as well as to borrow books and provide copies of articles owned by the Human Sciences libraries to other libraries upon request. The material requested through this service must be used for study purposes and in accordance with current copyright law. At the Human Sciences Libraries, interlibrary loan is centralized and divided into three service points: the Paolotti Humanities Library, the Business Library and the Language Library.

8.1. Service terms and conditions

The service is reserved for students, teaching staff of undergraduate courses in the fields of economics and humanities at the University of Parma, and staff of related departments. Materials owned by the Humanities Libraries are sent only to libraries and not to private citizens.

8.2. Costs

The service is free for users, except for a possible refound to the lending library: for libraries with reciprocal agreements, the sending of materials is free of charge; in other cases, a refound may be required. Details of how the service is provided are on the page about interlibrary loan and article supply.

9. Photoreproduction and printing

Users may reproduce materials owned by the libraries in compliance with current copyright law; in case of violation, they are personally liable. In the libraries, with the exception of the Library of Arts and Entertainment, multi-function printers are available, connected to the PCs in the reading rooms. The service is accessed by authentication; each user has a small daily non-cumulative credit available for free.

10. Use of computers in the university network

The service, reserved for institutional users, allows them to use the libraries computers for study and research purposes by authenticating with university credentials. Two computers reserved for consulting specialized databases are available at the Economics Library with a single license. Reservations are required for access. In all libraries, computers dedicated to consulting the libraries electronic catalog are free access.

11. WiFi connection to the University network

All libraries are covered by the University WiFi: institutional users can access the Internet directly from their mobile devices by authenticating with university credentials.

12. Training and courses

The Human Sciences Libraries organize training activities on the use of information resources and services offered.
